Welcome

History

In 1995, when we first took hold of our historic Gastown brewpub location, we discovered that the building had a rare steam heat system. A remnant from forward thinkers of a century past.

Our brewmaster had only read of steam powered brewing, but had never seen a functional steam brewery. These are very rare indeed. We ventured forth, experimented, and created a one-of-a-kind steam generated brewery. The only one in Canada.

To our pleasure, we found our test brews to be distinctively fresh and flavourful.

For nearly 20 years, beer aficionados have been migrating to our Steamworks brewpub for a taste of these unconventional beers. Now, with the advent of our bottled beers, you can take the brewpub experience home with you.

Steamworks custom reception menus are the ideal way to encourage your guests to get social with one another. As they mingle, our friendly staff will pass through your crowd with delicious canapés for them to enjoy while sipping on libations.
All of our menus are custom created to suit the needs of your guests.

How to create your menu:

Step 1:
select your items from any of the four price tiers ($1.75, $2.25, $3 & $3.75)

Step 2:
add the cost of the individual items together to get your menu price per person

Step 3:
multiply your menu price* by your guest count
(quantity of items = guest count)

Steamworks requires a deposit, attached to a signed event contract, to confirm all bookings. Deposit rates vary according to the room and time that you are booking. Please contact our group sales department for details. This deposit is to be made upon booking and serves as your guarantee that the room will be held exclusively for your event. In the event that your minimum spend is not met during your function, your deposit will be used towards meeting your minimum spend. Deposits refunds will be returned the following business day.

Steamworks has a wonderful selection of menus for you to choose from for your group. We do require that groups over 20 people choose from our reception, banquet or buffet menus. Your menu choice must be finalized three business days before your event with guaranteed numbers. In the event that your guaranteed numbers change, you will be billed for the greater of actual attendance or the guaranteed numbers.

Food & Beverage Minimum Spend

Steamworks does not charge room rental fees to our clients. We do require that you meet the agreed to minimum spend for the room you are booking. This amount includes all food and beverage purchased during the event, whether host bar or cash bar. Should you not reach your minimum spend requirements, the difference will be deducted from your deposit. Minimum spend requirements vary according to the room, time of year and day of the week. Please contact our group sales department for details.

Service Charges & Taxes

  • All food, beverage and other event fees are subject to a 17% service charge. Other government applicable taxes are as follows:
  • Food and non-alcoholic beverages – 5% GST
  • Alcohol –  10% PLT & 5% GST
  • Audio Visual Equipment - 5% GST
  • Service Charge - 5% GST

Cancellations

Cancellations must be made in writing via email or fax to our group sales department one week prior to your event to receive your deposit back in full. If your cancellation is within seven days of your event, your deposit is non refundable, but may be used towards a future booking.

Payment

Payment for your event is due at the end of your event. Steamworks accepts Visa, Mastercard, Amex or Company Cheque.
